Tijuana Walkabout

Tijuana Walkabout with San Diego Food BloggersTijuana Walkabout with San Diego Food Bloggers Over the weekend we hosted our first Tijuana "Food Marathon" for the San Diego Food Bloggers community. It was a wonderful experience meeting new faces, and showing them a piece of our near and dear to us Tijuana. There are so many places to go and see, and just trying to make an itinerary was incredibly difficult. There is not enough time in the day nor room in our stomachs to conquer and justify Tijuana's food scene. We do hope that the places we visited gave everyone a taste that will have them craving more.

Tortas Wash Mobile

Our first stop of the morning was at Tortas Wash Mobile. This has always been a quintessential stop for us, especially in our early mornings heading to cross the border. It is pretty hard to resist starting your day with one of their Carne Asada tortas.

Das Cortez

Before anyone decided to drift off into a food coma, it was necessary to make a stop for coffee. With everyone buzzing with a bit of caffeine, it was time to walk Mercado Hidalgo. You don't want people thinking that they didn't get any exercise in their day right?! Mercado Hidalgo

We walked around Mercado Hildalgo tasting and pointing out to all of the beautiful produce and other goods. A stop at the cheese shop and leaving with at least one piñata was a must.

Tacos El Guero

Tacos El Guero was our next food stop. We limited ourselves to one taco to two tacos (or a mulita), attempting to save room for our next stop that was on the sweeter side.

Tepoznieves

At first glance Tepoznieves may seem a bit daunting, but once you decide on a few flavors and ask to try them the experience might seem a little easier. That is one stop that I could return to again and again, and have a different flavor each time.

Cervercería Tijuana

With the caffeine wearing off by now, what's the next best option? Alcohol. It was great to sit down and enjoy a few cold beers with some nice conversation.

Caesar's

Caesar's Restaurant was our last and final stop of the day. It was a couple of hours filled with tapas, dessert, and of course a few bottles of wine...oh and maybe some tequila too.

It made us so happy to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves, and that they couldn't wait to come back. Thank you to all of the San Diego food bloggers for making our first Tijuana walkabout such a lovely experience.
