The long awaited arrival of Chef Javier Plascencia's Bracero - Cocina de Raíz in Little Italy, San Diego is finally here. Baja cuisine lovers and diners rejoice! The interiors of the space alone will make you never want to leave. The Bells and Whistles design team did a fantastic job with this elegantly modern space, with strong masculine features, and genuinely Mexican touches and pieces. The menu is studded with some of the dishes paying homage to the Grupo Plascencia empire of restaurants. We sat on the top floor, and the sweet smokiness that filled the air was reminiscent of the days spent in Valle de Guadalupe at Finca Altozano. A few of the known dishes that you will find are the ceviche verde tostada from Erizo, the classic Caesar salad from Caesar's Restaurant, and beef cheek tacos like those from Casa Plascencia and Romesco. Wash it all down with one of the killer cocktails, or glass of wine from Mexico's wine country. Congratulations to chef Javier Plascencia + the entire team at Bracero! Little Italy won't know what hit them!

Starting this Thursday, July 9th they will be open to the public. The top floor dining area will require reservations, but the bottom level will be accepting walk-ins.
