What To Do: A big Tijuana cookout to light up the city

On Saturday, September 21 the Xolo’s official tailgating point will feature a northern-Mexican style cookout filled with food, drinks, and music (endorsed by the Mexican Grilling Society). The event features a gastro pavilion, taquerías, beer garden, a Mexican wine and mixology terrace, and kid-friendly areas. Much like a good carne asada, the event is family friendly. Mexicali’s very own Chef Antonio De Livier will host a 1-day-only pop up inside the event. What’s a cookout without good jams? Los Amigos Invisibles and Takón Machine will take lead on the musical stage.

The Max Grill Baja Fest presented by Calimax, is throwing a big carne asada to celebrate the region’s grilling aficionados.

True story (#NOTsponsored), we love making stops at Calimax with every visit we make to Tijuana for groceries to bring back stateside. Think bottled hot sauces (Salsa La Perrona!), cans of pickled jalapeños, tortillas, tostadas, candy, and any goodies our littles ones get their eyes on. Calimax has a great line-up of Mexican wines and craft beers and have been stocking their shelves lately with the region’s best artisanal products. Pro Tip: grab some cool craft beers for your Baja road trips. So scoring some passes will be an easy thing!

To score entries, you must visit a Calimax and look for the marked participating products. For every $250 MXN pesos (about $12.5 US dlls) you spend on participating, you will receive a coupon for 1 pass. Bring the coupon on the day of the event to redeem your passes. Basically, let’s call it a free event with purchase!
