Cine Tonalá on Tijuana's Avenida Revolución

La Revu, known as one of the most legendary streets in Tijuana has seen a lot of cultural changes over the last couple of weeks. The third location of Cine Tonalá has opened with its gorgeous multi story building, boasting an independent movie theatre, bar, and expansive terraza with a restaurant turning out delicious and innovative dishes. As you walk into the building you are greeted with brick wall accents, colorful artwork, and a bar suited for pre or post libations after catching the latest indie flick. Head up the stairs, while catching glimpses of some awesome art pieces of both American and Mexican presidents on the walls.

The top level opens up, and the vivacious of Tijuana surrounds you with the renowned Jai Alai building to your right, the bustling street full of sounds, and people watching for days. Grabbing a seat at your table just before the sun goes down is perfect. We ordered up a couple of tostadas, tacos, and we couldn’t help but tap into their dessert menu. Let me just say the carrot cake with pea flan on top is magical. Yes, you read that right. Pea flan. The textures meet in harmony, and it’s the perfect ending to a great meal.

Teorema / Lúdica Co-Tasting Room, Tijuana

In the mood for the craft beer? I mean who isn’t these days. Head across the street to the Teorema / Ludica Co-Tasting Room. The interiors of the space alone left me in an inspiration trance. It’s industrial, stream lined details bring in a calming vibe, from the vibrant scenes just outside of their front door. You may have visited Ludica’s other tasting room in Plaza Fiesta, but this is the first time Teorema has opened up a tasting room, and they have been brewing beer for the last couple of years on La Revu.

Keep your eyes peeled for the opening of the upcoming One Bunk hotel, just steps away from Cine Tonalá and Teorema / Ludica Co-Tasting Room. Tijuana's first boutique hotel and hang-out spot for international travelers and tijuanenses will bring more to Tijuana's iconic avenue.
