Suzie's Farm Strawberry Jam
Ever since we first saw the Strawberry Jam event on the Suzie's Farm calendar, we could not wait to be a part of it. We visited Suzie's Farm last fall for the Pumpkin U-Pick, and loved everything about it. The weather has been so pleasant lately, why not head outside and enjoy the day. Giovanni is a bit older now, and loved helping us pick his own strawberries, and of course helped put them into the bucket. The aromas of strawberries filled the air, as everyone scoured the field, and collected their own bounty to bring home. It really is amazing how sweet these strawberries are. There is such an honest difference from the ones that you would normally buy at the market. The Green Truck was there feeding any hungry bellies. As we stood in line to order, you couldn't help but have a smile on your face with the sounds of reggae playing from the truck. The veggie oil powered truck serves all organic food, and they actually prepare it all in a solar powered kitchen. How cool is that? We ordered their Chipotle Cheddar Burger, Beet and Feta Salad, and one of the Strawberry themed items, the Fried Squash blossom with Strawberry jam. If you have yet to try a squash blossom, whether it be in a quesadilla, or fried like this one..it is a must! They are so beautiful, and full of flavor! This squash blossom was stuffed with an almond honey mascarpone, and drizzled with a strawberry reduction. It was slightly crunchy, creamy, and sweet. My beet and feta salad was delicious as well, and actually inspired me to come home and make one for dinner last night.
We obviously couldn't help ourselves from stopping at their produce stand before we headed home. We grabbed some gorgeous produce, that already had me running recipes through my head before we even got home. We can not wait to return to Suzie's Farm for their next event.
