Smashburger Kearny Mesa Grand Opening
We were invited to the Smashburger Grand Opening party at their Kearny Mesa location, and I couldn't have been more excited to try it out. I have been hearing such wonderful things about their burgers around town, and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I know that I have mentioned my burger fanatic husband before, so you can imagine he was just as excited as I was. It was nice to find out what was behind their words: Smash, Savor, and Sizzle. Their 100% Angus Beef Patties are smashed, seared, and also seasoned while on the grill. Add that burger to fresh and assorted condiments, as well as a soft and toasted bun. You know that you will be in "Burger Heaven." I am not going to lie I stared at the menu for a bit, and I was really considering constructing my own burger. Then I saw the San Diego Smashburger, and I thought "Hey! Why not try the burger named after the city that they are in?" I was very happy with my decision! The tasty burger was covered in melty pepper jack cheese, and lovely garnishes of avocado, fresh cilantro, sour cream, lettuce and tomato. A little bit of smokiness was added by the chipotle mayo. Their butter toasted torta roll brought all of this together, and even better there was a slice of lime. To me, a burger that can have their flavors enhanced by a lime is a winner in my book. Their sides are on a level of their own. Did I mention that they have fried pickles? Yes, indeed they do, as well as other delicious options. I wish that I could try every one at once, but that gives me more of a reason to go back. Not that I need a reason, the burger sold me itself. We ordered the Haystack onions. This is the way that all onion rings should be served. Every bite is full of a light crispy batter covered onion. They are very light for being fried, and a pleasant addition to any burger or sandwich. Okay, maybe I would just eat them on their own as well. My husband ordered their Classic Burger. This was a very enjoyable version of a "Classic". This Egg bun and burger are so meant for each other. I know what you are thinking, burgers and buns always go together Kristin. Well, this is different, the quality really shines through.
We will definitely be returning back to Smashburger. I can not wait to try out the rest of their menu, as well as construct my own masterpiece. The only issue is that I might get cravings more often that I should. Is that really an issue? Maybe, maybe not. If you are looking for one of the best burgers in town, head on over to Smashburger. Take your first bite, and see what all of the hype is about.
