Giovanni's 1st Birthday
My son turned one this weekend, and I found it so lovely that his birthday actually fell on a Saturday this year. My husband and I had been talking about a nautical themed birthday party well before the month of October rolled around. It has just always been a theme that we have loved, and it was even in consideration for the baby shower. So nautical it was, the party was filled with red, white, blue, and nautical symbols. The weather was gorgeous! The rain that we had earlier during the week, scared me a bit, but it turned out just perfect. The party was held at a local park, which is ideal due to the size of our family. I couldn't have asked for a better location. The kids were well occupied between the basketball courts, grass, and playground.
We served Tostadas, which were presented as "Buffet Style". This is such a great way to make sure that all the guests eat exactly what the want, and at their own pace. There was also a table full of Tostitos, Churritos, and all of the toppings to go along with them. We all know that cake is the quintessential part of a Birthday, but I decided to be a bit less traditional for his party. I made cake balls for the guests, and Giovanni's "smash cake" was a giant cupcake. Of course there were also two piñatas filled with candy, not that the kids needed any more sugar.
After all of the months of planning and preparation, I have to admit I was a bit sad when it all ended. The weather was perfect, and it was so nice getting together with close friends and family. I want to thank everyone that came out to celebrate Giovanni's special day, it really was a wonderful occasion!
